COVID Vaccine Requirement Exemptions

SBCC Board Resolution No. 1 COVID-19 Immunization provides for an exemption based on medical, disability, or religious grounds, or a deferral based on pregnancy. This page provides information about getting an exemption and what that means.

What It Means to Get an Exemption

Getting an exemption means that you are not required to provide valid documentation of “full” COVID-19 vaccination (as defined by the U.S. Center for Disease Control) to SBCC as a condition of:

  1. Entering an SBCC campus building.
  2. Attending an in-person SBCC class.
  3. Using a service located off-campus.

What Your Responsibilities are If You Get an Exemption

If you are granted an exemption then you may be present on district property or participate in college activities only if you:

  1. Wear a well fitting mask indoors in all campus buildings (masks remain required indoors while in "medium" or "high" tiers; the College strongly recommends KN-95 or N-95)
  2. Provide SBCC with lab-based negative PCR test results each week for COVID-19 (antigen tests are not accepted for routine testing).

Students or employees who are granted an exemption but are not willing to be tested will not be allowed on campus.

How to Get an Exemption

There are multiple types of exemptions (sometimes called exceptions) based upon the circumstance of the exemption. The types of exemptions available are Medical Exemption, Religious Exception, and Pregnancy Deferral. Please see the relevant section below. Please note that you must have an active pipeline account for any of the forms to work.

  • The medical exemption form is located at https://etcentral.softdocs.sbcc.edu/#/form/133.

All certifications must be signed by a physician, nurse practitioner, or other licensed medical professional practicing under the license of a physician. As you will need to submit your documents at the same time as submitting the form, it is advised that you gather the required documents in advance of completing the form.

  • The religious exception form is located at https://etcentral.softdocs.sbcc.edu/#/form/131. Please read the form carefully and be sure to initial next to each of the statements listed on the form.
