Joshua Ramirez, Ph.D., Project Director
Dr. Ramirez earned his Ph.D from U.C. Irvine's Cognitive Sciences doctoral program. He also received his M.A. in Social Sciences and B.A. in Psychology from U.C. Irvine, as well. Dr. Ramirez's graduate work examined the psycholinguistic, developmental, and neurological basis of reading disabilities. For five years, he served as a pre-doctoral research fellow for the National Institutes of Health's (NIH) National Institute for Child Health and Human Development. Dr. Ramirez's primary academic interests include speech perception, language acquisition, development, cognitive neuroscience, and visual intelligence. Dr. Ramirez previously taught at U.C. Irvine as an instructor of record, teaching associate and laboratory instructor; he also served as associate faculty for the South Orange County Community College District.

My major is Computer Engineering and I am a Computer Science tutor in the CS lab at SBCC. I chose to be a part of the Student-Ready program because I know how important it is to have peer to peer support throughout a student’s academic journey.

I was born in La Paz, Mexico. I'm currently in the Engineering program at SBCC and
transferring next semester to the Aerospace Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
major. I really enjoy playing tennis, snorkeling, scuba diving, and hanging out with
friends.
